Data Deletion Policy
Effective date: August 1, 2026
Last updated: August 1, 2026
This Data Deletion Policy explains how you can delete individual projects and other eligible content, permanently delete your DarkRomanceWrite account, and request deletion of personal information. It also explains what is removed from active systems, how browser-stored information is handled, and the limited circumstances in which certain non-content records or secure backup copies may remain temporarily.
DarkRomanceWrite is operated by Lilith Studios LLC, a Wyoming limited liability company ("Lilith Studios," "we," "us," or "our").
This Policy supplements our Privacy Policy and Terms of Use. If a capitalized term is not defined in this Policy, it has the meaning given in our Terms of Use.
1. What This Policy Covers
This Policy applies to personal information and User Content handled through DarkRomanceWrite, including:
- account and profile information;
- projects, Story Bible material, characters, settings, outlines, notes, scenes, chapters, drafts, manuscripts, and revision histories;
- synchronized and unsynchronized information stored through the Service or in your browser;
- account, security, Soma, diagnostic, and operational records; and
- deletion requests submitted through the Service or directly to Lilith Studios.
This Policy covers:
- deletion of an individual project or other content through available Service controls;
- permanent deletion of an entire account and its associated hosted content;
- deletion of eligible personal information through a verified privacy request;
- removal of covered information stored in the browser used to complete account deletion; and
- the limited treatment of detached records and secure disaster-recovery backups.
This Policy does not delete copies that you previously downloaded, exported, shared, published, or stored outside DarkRomanceWrite. Those copies remain under your control.
Deleting your DarkRomanceWrite account also does not delete a separate account you may hold directly with an independent authentication, payment, or other third-party provider.
2. Your Deletion Options
DarkRomanceWrite provides several levels of deletion:
- Delete an individual project or available content. You may remove a project or other eligible content through the controls provided in the Service. Deleting one project does not delete your account or your other projects.
- Permanently delete your account. You may use the authenticated account-deletion process to permanently delete your DarkRomanceWrite account and the active data associated with it.
- Submit a privacy deletion request. If you cannot access the authenticated deletion controls, or if your request concerns eligible personal information not covered by those controls, you may contact privacy@darkromancewrite.com.
Deleting a project is different from deleting your entire account. Permanent account deletion applies to all projects and other hosted User Content associated with that account.
Canceling a paid subscription is also different from deleting an account. Subscription cancellation stops future renewal as described in our Terms of Use, while leaving the account and its existing content available unless you separately delete them.
3. Before You Permanently Delete Your Account
Permanent account deletion is irreversible. Before confirming deletion, you should:
- export every manuscript, project, or other item you wish to keep;
- review any unsynchronized browser-stored work and use the available safe-export option;
- verify that you no longer need any remaining Soma balance or account history; and
- check whether copies remain on another device, browser profile, download folder, backup service, or external application.
When account deletion is completed, you will lose access to the account, its hosted User Content, and its remaining Somas. Lilith Studios cannot reopen the deleted account or restore its manuscript workspace from ordinary Service systems.
The deletion process clears covered local information from the browser used to complete the deletion. It cannot automatically erase copies stored on another device, in another browser profile, or outside DarkRomanceWrite.
4. Secure Permanent Account-Deletion Process
Permanent account deletion can be initiated only through an authenticated account or through a separately verified privacy request.
To permanently delete your account through the Service, you must:
- be signed in to the account you wish to delete;
- open the permanent account-deletion control;
- enter the exact confirmation phrase DELETE MY ACCOUNT;
- complete a supported reauthentication method within the preceding ten minutes; and
- confirm the final deletion request after reviewing the available export option.
A routine session or token refresh does not count as recent reauthentication. The Service verifies the authentication method and its timestamp before allowing deletion.
If the required confirmation or recent reauthentication is missing, invalid, or expired, the deletion request is rejected and the account remains unchanged.
Once the request is accepted:
- active account sessions are revoked;
- the server prepares the account’s eligible data for deletion;
- the authentication identity is permanently deleted through a privileged server-only operation; and
- covered local data is cleared from the browser used to complete the deletion.
The self-service deletion process is tied to the authenticated account. One user cannot use it to delete another user’s account or content.
Account deletion does not require Lilith Studios personnel to open or read your manuscript. The deletion process identifies and removes records through technical account identifiers and owner-based controls.
If you cannot access your account or complete the authenticated process, contact privacy@darkromancewrite.com. We may use a proportionate verification method to protect the account against unauthorized or fraudulent deletion.
5. Information Removed from Active Systems
When permanent account deletion is successfully completed, the following information is removed from DarkRomanceWrite’s active systems:
- your authentication identity;
- linked sign-in identities;
- active sessions and registered authentication factors;
- account profile information;
- application roles and account-access records;
- projects and project records;
- Story Bible content and associated histories;
- characters, settings, outlines, notes, and project-planning material;
- scenes, chapters, drafts, manuscripts, and revision histories;
- other hosted narrative records associated with the account;
- active generation diagnostics linked to the account;
- active Soma balances, Soma lots, reservations, and ordinary transaction records; and
- covered browser caches, drafts, synchronization queues, and quarantined local work on the device used to complete the deletion.
The deletion operation removes narrative records without giving Lilith Studios personnel a path to view their contents.
Remaining Somas are permanently removed without transfer, cash redemption, or restoration. Account deletion does not create a right to a refund for an earlier purchase, except where a refund is required by applicable law or expressly provided under the applicable purchase terms.
The deleted authentication identity, account, projects, and protected manuscript workspace cannot be reopened through ordinary Service systems.
6. Browser-Stored and Unsynchronized Information
DarkRomanceWrite uses browser storage to preserve drafts, projects, Story Bible information, revision history, synchronization queues, recovery data, and interface preferences.
When permanent account deletion is completed, the Service clears covered local information from the browser used to perform the deletion, after providing the available opportunity to export unsynchronized work.
Information stored in another browser, browser profile, device, download folder, external drive, cloud-storage account, or third-party application cannot be automatically removed by DarkRomanceWrite. You are responsible for deleting those separate copies if you no longer wish to keep them.
When you sign out or change accounts, unsynchronized narrative information is removed from the active account namespace and quarantined so that the next account using the same browser cannot access it. This isolation process does not give Lilith Studios personnel access to the quarantined content.
Manually clearing cookies, local storage, browser data, or application data may permanently remove unsynchronized work. Export important content before clearing browser storage or uninstalling browser components.
7. Limited Records Retained After Deletion
Permanent account deletion removes your active account and narrative information. A strictly limited amount of non-content evidence may remain temporarily for fraud prevention, financial integrity, security, and proof that controlled deletion operations were completed correctly.
Trial and anti-fraud evidence
Cryptographic, hash-only evidence used to prevent duplicate or abusive trial claims may be retained for no more than 24 months after account deletion or the last related trial attempt, whichever is later.
This evidence may include protected hashes derived from limited trial identifiers and security signals. It does not contain:
- your manuscript or other narrative content;
- prompts or AI-generated responses;
- your raw email address;
- your raw IP address;
- payment-card information; or
- the former account, project, or chapter identifier.
Closed Soma and provider-cost evidence
Hash-only evidence relating to a settled, released, failed, or otherwise closed Soma or provider-cost operation may be retained for no more than 24 months after that operation is closed.
This limited evidence exists to preserve ledger integrity, prevent duplicate settlements, reconcile provider costs, and investigate financial abuse. It does not preserve the prompt, manuscript passage, AI response, or other narrative material involved in the operation.
Diagnostic purge evidence
When Lilith Studios completes an approved purge of historical diagnostic material, a hash-only record proving that the purge occurred may be retained for no more than 12 months after the approved purge.
That record may include a technical diagnostic identifier, a cryptographic hash of the former material, relevant timestamps, and the approved purge reference. The raw material covered by the purge is not retained in this proof.
Separation from the deleted account
Where retained evidence must remain internally associated with one deletion event, the system uses a cryptographically random 256-bit deletion reference.
That reference:
- is not derived from the former account identifier;
- is not returned to the browser;
- has no reverse-mapping table;
- cannot reopen the deleted account; and
- cannot retrieve or reconstruct the deleted manuscript.
These retained records may be used only for their stated security, fraud-prevention, financial-integrity, and deletion-verification purposes. They are not used for advertising, behavioral profiling, AI training, or product-content analysis.
8. Secure Disaster-Recovery Backups
Information deleted from active systems may remain temporarily in encrypted or otherwise secured disaster-recovery backups until those backups are overwritten through the applicable provider’s controlled backup cycle.
Backup copies are isolated from ordinary Service operations. They are not available through your account, support tools, administrative manuscript interfaces, advertising systems, or AI-training processes.
Lilith Studios does not use disaster-recovery backups to reopen a deleted account or selectively restore a manuscript after permanent account deletion.
If a backup must be restored to recover from a serious technical incident, applicable deletion and retention controls will be reapplied before restored information is returned to ordinary Service use, where technically applicable.
9. Limited Legal and Operational Exceptions
Lilith Studios may retain limited information for longer than the ordinary periods described in this Policy only when reasonably necessary to:
- comply with a binding legal or regulatory obligation;
- honor a valid preservation requirement;
- detect, investigate, or prevent fraud, unauthorized access, or a security incident;
- resolve an unresolved payment, refund, chargeback, or billing dispute;
- maintain legally required tax, accounting, or transaction records when paid services are offered;
- document acceptance of applicable legal terms;
- respond to a support, privacy, security, billing, or legal communication; or
- establish, exercise, or defend a legal claim.
Any exception is limited to the information, purpose, and duration reasonably necessary for that specific obligation.
Support messages, attachments, screenshots, or excerpts that you voluntarily sent outside your protected manuscript workspace may be retained separately when necessary to handle the request, maintain security, or resolve a dispute. You are never required to send an entire manuscript.
These exceptions do not authorize Lilith Studios to retain manuscript content for advertising, product-content analysis, or AI training, and they do not create an administrative interface for personnel to open protected manuscripts.
10. Deleting an Individual Project or Other Content
You may delete an individual project or other eligible content through the controls available in the Service.
Where a Trash or recovery feature is provided, the initial deletion moves the affected content out of your active workspace without immediately making the deletion permanent. You may restore it until you select the available permanent-deletion option or the interface otherwise states that recovery is no longer available.
Permanent project deletion removes the project and its associated active records, which may include:
- Story Bible content and history;
- characters, settings, outlines, and notes;
- scenes, chapters, drafts, and revision history;
- project-specific synchronization and recovery records;
- project-specific diagnostics; and
- covered project data stored in the browser used to complete the deletion.
Pending synchronization operations associated with the permanently deleted project are canceled so that deleted content is not later restored through an outdated queue.
Deleting one project or item does not delete:
- your DarkRomanceWrite account;
- your other projects;
- your account profile;
- an active subscription; or
- account-level Somas.
Before permanently deleting a project, export any material you wish to retain. Permanent project deletion cannot be reversed through ordinary Service controls.
The limited detached records and secure backup treatment described in Sections 7 through 9 may still apply.
11. Submitting a Privacy Deletion Request
To request deletion of eligible personal information that is not covered by the available self-service controls, email privacy@darkromancewrite.com.
Your request should include:
- the email address associated with your account;
- a clear description of the information you want deleted;
- your state or country of residence when relevant; and
- enough information for us to understand the scope of your request.
Do not send:
- your password;
- authentication codes;
- complete payment-card information; or
- your full manuscript.
You are never required to provide an entire manuscript to submit or verify a deletion request.
To protect your account against unauthorized deletion, we may verify your identity through:
- an authenticated account control;
- confirmation sent to the account email address;
- recent reauthentication;
- limited account or transaction information; or
- another proportionate verification method.
We request only the information reasonably necessary to verify the request.
An authorized agent may submit a request on your behalf where permitted by applicable law. We may request evidence of the agent’s authority and may ask you to directly confirm the authorization or verify your identity.
If we cannot reasonably verify the request, we may decline or limit it to protect the account and its information from unauthorized deletion.
12. Response Times, Decisions, and Appeals
We will evaluate and respond to a verified deletion request without undue delay and generally within 45 days after receiving it.
Where reasonably necessary and permitted by applicable law, we may extend the response period once by up to an additional 45 days. If an extension is needed, we will notify you during the initial response period and explain the reason.
We may deny or limit a request when:
- we cannot reasonably verify the requester’s identity or authority;
- the requested information is not associated with the requester;
- deletion would adversely affect another person’s rights;
- a legal or operational exception described in Section 9 applies;
- the information has already been deleted or irreversibly detached;
- fulfilling the request is impossible or would require disproportionate effort where applicable law recognizes that limitation; or
- the request is manifestly unfounded, excessive, repetitive, fraudulent, or abusive.
When required by applicable law, we will explain the reason for a denial or limitation.
To appeal a decision, email privacy@darkromancewrite.com with the subject line Privacy Appeal. Identify the original request and explain why you believe the decision should be reconsidered. We will review the appeal and respond within the period required by applicable law.
Ordinary privacy requests are free. We may charge a reasonable fee or decline to act on a manifestly unfounded, excessive, or repetitive request only where permitted by applicable law.
13. No Discrimination
Lilith Studios will not unlawfully deny the Service, charge a different price, provide a lower quality of Service, or retaliate against you because you exercised an applicable privacy or deletion right.
A consequence that results directly from your deletion choice is not discriminatory treatment. For example, permanently deleting an account necessarily ends access to that account, its projects, remaining Somas, and protected manuscript workspace.
14. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Data Deletion Policy to reflect changes in the Service, security practices, providers, legal requirements, or deletion processes.
The effective and last-updated date displayed at the top identifies the current version.
For a material change, we will provide reasonable notice through the Service, by email, or through another appropriate method before the change takes effect when required by applicable law.
Updates apply prospectively from their stated effective date. Earlier versions may be retained for legal and compliance purposes.
15. Official Language
The official language of this Data Deletion Policy is English. If a translation is provided, the English version controls to the extent permitted by applicable law.
